Job summary

Addus HomeCare is seeking a Family Service Specialist to support families in crisis via DCFS programs, including Family Habilitation Services, Visitation and Housing. A strong focus on safety, documentation, and service planning is needed.

This role offers flexible scheduling (full-time or part-time), daily pay options, mileage reimbursement, and benefits. A dependable vehicle and clean driving record are required to travel to families' homes.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
Associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience preferred.
Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

Support families to prevent the permanent placement of children out of their home.
Provide transportation for parent and/or children to and from locations for supervised visitation.
Teach homemaking and parenting skills, anger management, and use community resources.
Observe and monitor supervised/unsupervised visitation and redirect as needed.
Prepare written reports and maintain accurate records.
Submit monthly client progress reports and documentation of services.
Report all child abuse and neglect; attend mandated trainings.
For housing program, help locate housing, jobs, and supports for independent living.
