Job summary

Addus HomeCare is seeking a Family Service Specialist to assist families in crisis through DCFS programs, including Family Habilitation Services, Visitation and Housing. The role involves home-based support, transportation for visits, and preparing reports; a background in social work or child welfare is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Associate degree or 2 years of child welfare experience is required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a dependable automobile, a valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance.
• Must pass required background checks.

Responsibilities

• Support families to prevent the permanent placement of children out of their home.
• Provide transportation for parent and/or children to and from locations for supervised visitation. Travel can be extensive.
• Teach homemaking, parenting, and anger management skills in the home.
• Supervised visitation / Unsupervised visitation and observe interactions during visits.
• Prepare written reports and maintain accurate records.
• Submit written client progress reports monthly with goals, dates, and outcomes.
• Report all child abuse and neglect.
• Attend mandated trainings.
• For housing program, locate housing, jobs and community supports for living independently.
