Job summary

Addus Home Care is seeking a Family Service Specialist to assist families through DCFS programs, providing services to help comply with court-ordered participation. Training is provided on-the-job, and the role supports families in crisis to stay together wherever possible.

The position offers a flexible schedule (full-time and part-time), daily pay on select positions, direct deposit, mileage reimbursement, and opportunities to impact families and communities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience is required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Experience in social work, child care, or working with families is preferred.
• Must have a dependable automobile, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance.
• Must pass required background checks.

Responsibilities

• Support families to prevent the permanent placement of children out of their home.
• Provide transportation for parent and/or children to and from locations for supervised visitation. Travel can be extensive.
• Teach homemaking, parenting, and anger management skills using effective resources.
• Supervised visitation / Unsupervised visitation and observe interactions, redirect if needed.
• Prepare written reports and maintain accurate records.
• Submit monthly client progress reports with scheduled dates, units of service, goals, and documentation.
• Report all child abuse and neglect.
• Attend mandated trainings.
• For housing program, locate housing, jobs and community supports for living independently.
