Job summary

Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo is seeking a Family Services Specialist to recruit and enroll children, verify eligibility, and orient parents to a wide range of services. The role involves referring families to health, nutrition, education and social resources, and maintaining health records while collaborating with managers to ensure timely service delivery.

Ideal candidates have related degree(s) and experience in client casework; some travel may be required to support

Qualifications

• AA/AS degree in Child Development, Social Science, Psychology, Human Development, Liberal Studies, or related field (Level II).
• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred (Level II) or BA/BS Degree (Level III).
• 1 year of client casework/case management experience required (Level II/III).

Responsibilities

• Recruit and enroll children into the program and verify eligibility.
• Orient parents to comprehensive services including Health, Nutrition, Education, Disabilities, Mental Health, Parent Engagement, and ERSEA.
• Refer families to community resources and local social services and maintain health records.
• Collaborate with Content experts and Area Managers/Center Supervisors to meet timelines.
• Support Parent Meetings by scheduling guest speakers and preparing agendas.
• Transport parents/children to meetings and health appointments when necessary.
• Maintain knowledge of database programs (e.g., ChildPlus) and document services to families.

Education

AA/AS Degree in Child Development/Social Science/Psychology/Human Development/Liberal Studies or related field

BA/BS Degree in Child Development/Social Science/Psychology/Human Development/Liberal Studies or related field
