Job summary

Addus HomeCare in Bloomington, IL is seeking a Family Service Specialist to support families through DCFS programs, including Family Habilitation Services, Visitation, and Housing. You will assist families in crisis, teach homemaking and parenting skills, and document progress through regular reports and mandated trainings.

Flexibility in schedule allows both full-time and part-time roles. The position emphasizes reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and adherence to background

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience is required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Experience in social work, child care, or working with families is preferred.
• Must pass required background checks.

Responsibilities

• Support families to prevent the permanent placement of children out of their home.
• Provide transportation for parent and/or children to and from locations for supervised visitation.
• Teach homemaking and parenting skills, anger management, and using available resources.
• Observe and redirect during supervised or unsupervised visits.
• Prepare written reports and maintain accurate records.
• Submit monthly client progress reports with dates, goals, and service units.
• Report all child abuse and neglect and attend mandated trainings.
