Job summary

Addus Home Care is seeking a Family Service Specialist to assist families in crisis through DCFS programs, including Family Habilitation Services, Visitation and Housing. Training is provided on the job and in-office.

The role involves supporting families in court-ordered program participation, transporting clients to supervised visits, and teaching homemaking and parenting skills. A flexible schedule includes full-time and part-time opportunities, with benefits and mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or 2 years of child welfare experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Dependable automobile with valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Background checks required.
• Experience in social work or working with families preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support families to prevent permanent placement of children.
• Provide transportation for visits; travel may be extensive.
• Teach homemaking, parenting, and anger management skills.
• Supervised and unsupervised visitation; observe interactions and redirect.
• Prepare written reports and monthly progress reports.
• Report all child abuse and neglect.
• Attend mandated trainings.
• Assist housing program participants with housing, jobs and community supports.
