Job summary

The Housing Authority of the Birmingham District (HABD) is seeking a Family Self-Sufficiency Specialist to plan, coordinate, and implement a range of FSS and homeownership programs. The role focuses on helping tenants become self-sufficient and economically independent through strong case management and partnerships.

The incumbent will support residents by coordinating services, conducting assessments, establishing escrow accounts, and promoting HABD programs in the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Public Administration, or related field and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in public housing or social services case management.
• Must obtain Family Self-Sufficiency Specialist Certification within nine (9) months of hire.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provides case management, planning, coordination, and delivery of services that support the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) and homeownership programs.
• Coordinates the displaced tenant relocation process and assists tenants in locating safe and affordable housing.
• Develops and maintains relationships with local landlords and promotes the Housing Choice Voucher program to potential landlords.
• Collects, analyzes, and reports data on the performance of FSS program activities.
