Job summary

Oaks Integrated Care Inc. in Southern New Jersey seeks a Family Preservation Counselor to work in-home and in community settings.

You will provide home based crisis intervention and psycho-educational skill building to families with at-risk children and support reunification where needed. This full-time role offers flexible hours, a competitive salary of $43,259.84 per year, and benefits including medical, dental and vision coverage, retirement plans, and opportunities for professional licensure

Qualifications

• Master's degree in the social service fields or education with family work experience is preferred OR a Bachelor's degree with two years post-degree experience.
• Must possess the capabilities to absorb and utilize FPS New Worker’s Training.
• Bilingual strongly preferred; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Be directly accessible by phone to assigned families 24/7.
• Assess risk and structure interventions to ensure safety.
• Use positive, supportive, non-judgmental approach with families.
• Provide concrete services and information to teach life skills.
• Assist families in managing current and future crises.
• Facilitate change using behavioral and cognitive strategies.
• Maintain a collaborative team atmosphere across the agency.
• Complete program paperwork and conduct follow-ups at 3, 6, and 12 months.

As a Family Preservation Counselor, you will work in-home and community based setting in Southern New Jersey. The family program provides home based crisis intervention and psycho-educational skill building strategies to families with child(ren) at risk or to assist with the reunification process.

Schedule

Full-time; Flexible hours; Monday through Sunday

Salary

$43,259.84/year

Responsibilities

• Must be directly accessible by phone to assigned families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
• Assess risk and structure interventions with families to assure safety; Interventions used will consider the need for worker's safety as well
• Utilize a positive, supportive, non-judgmental approach with families in order to enlist them as partners in the therapeutic process
• Provide concrete services
• Provide information; teach life skills, so that family members can more effectively manage their current situations and future crisis
• Facilitate change using behavioral interventions
• Facilitate change by using cognitive strategies; maintain a mutually supportive atmosphere among team members throughout the agency
• Complete all necessary program and agency paperwork in a thorough, timely professional manner; Conduct 3, 6 and 12 month follow-ups of families (post completion of FPS services) to determine outcome of FPS intervention

Qualifications

• Master's degree (MA, MS, MSW) in the social service fields or education plus experience working with families and children, knowledge of crisis intervention, cognitive behavioral skills, communication skills, and family dynamics education is helpful OR;
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two (2) years post-degree experience working with families and children
• Must possess the capabilities to absorb and utilize skills presented within the FPS New Worker's Training;
• Bilingual strongly preferred;
• Valid Driver's License required.
