Job summary

American Academy of Family Physicians seeks a Physician Assistant to join a collaborative physician team in an ambulatory care setting. You will conduct physicals, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and provide injections and wound care under a detailed scope of practice.

The role offers a 4.5-day work week, no weekends, and comprehensive benefits. Competitively base pay with bonus potential and relocation/sign-on options; licensure in Missouri required or obtainable.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved school for Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistant—Master’s Degree.
  • Licensed or able to obtain licensure in Missouri.
  • 1+ year(s) as practicing PA in primary care or similar setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care under collaborative physician within a defined scope of practice.
  • Perform physicals, order diagnostics, and interventions (labs, x-ray, EKG, etc.).
  • Deliver injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
  • Prescribe medications and educate patients and families on health and prevention.
  • Document progress notes and orders in the patient chart; work in ambulatory care with Epic EHR.

Under the direct supervision of a collaborative physician, physician site leader, and practice manager, Physician Assistant (PA) provides medical care to patients within a detailed scope of practice. The scope of practice identifies the range of clinical modalities and protocols agreed upon between the PA and collaborative physician. Within the ambulatory care setting, under the collaborative physician and scope of practice, the PA completes physicals; orders diagnostic and therapeutic modalities: e.g., laboratory, x-ray, EKG, etc.; performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and infection management; prescribes medications; instructs and educates patients and their families in proper healthcare, appropriate illness prevention, and home care; and documents in the patient chart progress notes, orders, etc. These aforementioned responsibilities are performed under the scope of practice to optimize clinical outcomes. The PA must be credentialed as a mid-level provider by same Hospital(s) in which the collaborative physician has admitting privileges. This opportunity is based in Winchester, Illinois.

  • The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $100,000 - $110,000, depending upon the applicant's qualifications and experience. In addition to the base compensation, this position may also be eligible for a sign-on bonus and relocation bonus equaling a total target cash compensation that may be between $110,000 - $150,000.

Requirements:


  • Graduation from an approved school for Nurse Practitioners Physician Assistant-Master's Degree

  • Licensed or ability to obtain licensure in the state of Missouri

  • Previous Experience (1+ years as practicing PA) in primary care or similar setting is preferred
