Job summary

RiverValley is seeking a Family Peer Support Specialist in Henderson, KY to mentor and support parents/caregivers of children with emotional disabilities. The role requires traveling within a seven-county region and documenting services promptly in the Avatar system.

The ideal candidate is a parent or relative caregiver with lived experience, willing to engage with diverse families and participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must be a parent or relative caregiver with permanent legal custody who is raising or has raised a child with an emotional, social, behavioral, or substance use disability.
• Required to complete core competency training and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Establishs and maintains a regional support and information network for families of children with emotional disabilities.
• Teaches, coaches, mentors, and models communication and advocacy skills for parents.
• Assists families in locating resources and understanding rights related to child services.
• Maintains timely documentation in the Avatar system (within 48 hours).
• Participates in treatment planning with children’s treatment teams and supports wraparound processes.
