Job summary

Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Family Mentor in Asheville, NC to provide peer-based support to families navigating DSS and recovery services. The role focuses on building trust, coordinating resources, and maintaining confidentiality.

The position offers a full benefits package and a schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with opportunity to impact families in the community.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS/PSS) Certification required.
Lived experience as a parent, caregiver, or family member who has navigated the DSS or child welfare system required.
Experience supporting families involved in recovery, reunification, behavioral health, or substance use services preferred.
Valid North Carolina driver's license with reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

Provide peer-based mentoring and support using your lived experience to encourage hope, resilience, and positive outcomes.
Build trusting relationships with families involved with the Department of Social Services (DSS).
Assist families in navigating community resources, treatment services, and case plan expectations.
Maintain regular communication with DSS caseworkers, treatment providers, and other community partners.
Participate as an active member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, providing a family-centered perspective.
Conduct outreach and provide ongoing encouragement to promote engagement in services.
Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
Prepare progress updates and participate in concurrent reviews with referral sources as assigned.
Participate in peer record reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
Transport clients to appointments and community resources as needed.
Protect client confidentiality and maintain compliance with HIPAA and agency policies.
Complete all required trainings and maintain certification requirements.

Compensation

$21.00 per hour

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, reaching, and using hands for computer and documentation tasks. Occasional bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. Local travel throughout the service area is expected.

Work Environment

This position is primarily community-based with office responsibilities as needed. Local travel is required to meet with families, attend appointments, and collaborate with community partners. Employees must maintain reliable transportation and be comfortable working independently in the community while remaining connected with the treatment team.
