Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Family Law / Immigration Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family law and immigration law, including but not limited to divorce, child custody, adoption, naturalization, and deportation defense. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent legal research, writing, and negotiation skills, capable of advocating effectively for clients in sensitive and complex legal matters.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in family law and immigration matters, ensuring their interests are effectively advocated in court and other legal proceedings.
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw to develop case strategies and provide sound legal counsel.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, petitions, and briefs, with precision and clarity.
- Advise clients on family law matters such as divorce, child custody, adoption, alimony, and immigration matters such as visa applications, asylum, green cards, and deportation defense.
- Negotiate settlements, agreements, and case resolutions on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide empathetic, sound legal advice throughout the legal process.
- Stay updated on relevant family law and immigration regulations and trends that may impact ongoing cases or client interests.
- Manage case files efficiently, ensuring all documentation is organized, accessible, and up to date.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Current member of the State Bar (California preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in family law and/or immigration law
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Excellent research skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Experience with family law and/or immigration case management software is a plus
Salary:
This is a full-time, at-will position. We offer a competitive compensation package, with salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary will be reviewed by Darren Michael Richie.
