Job description

Join Our Team: Family Law Attorney (Child Legal Representative and Individual Parent Attorney Roles)

About Us

Children First Family Law, PC (formerly known as Nash Family Law, PC), is a Colorado based, forward-thinking, boutique law firm with a local market dominance and a national presence for its dedication to fostering flourishing rather than warfare in the messy and heartbreaking area of family law. We focus on children first by taking on four different roles – attorney for best interests of children, attorney for one parent, mediator/arbitrator, and parenting coordinator/decision-maker. Because we are an intimate, focused practice, we offer flexibility and responsiveness that larger firms either cannot or choose not to embrace. We work remotely, believe truly in work/life balance, and strive to advocate well for children as within a supportive, collaborative atmosphere.

About You

You are a confident, skilled, empathetic, and compassionate attorney dedicated to making a positive impact in family law. Your priority is children’s well-being, and you’re committed to equipping families to flourish despite their broken situations, much like transforming broken glass into a beautiful stained-glass window. You are seeking a long-term position where you can grow professionally while truly making a
difference in redeeming the messy area of family law to do better by children. You thrive in a collaborative team environment but are confident in managing your caseload independently. You are flexible in a highly fluid work environment with many competing demands. As a strong negotiator, you advocate effectively for your clients’ needs while working closely with the entire team to ensure a comprehensive assessment of each case. You have strong client management skills, knowing when to draw the line in terminating representation when a client’s needs no longer fit well with the mission of the firm and its approach. You would rather “do right” than “win.” You are not focused on dollars more than people and seek to be efficient and cost-effective in how you approach cases. You seek litigation efforts if and only if they are necessary, attempting first and always to preserve peace outside of court. You are also passionate about learning and being mentored, along with sharing your knowledge and experience to uplift your colleagues. Most importantly, you have a deep commitment to helping better family law, driven by your dedication to the well-being and best interests of the children and families you serve.

Your Role

We are looking to expand our team to protect more children and support more families. As a Family Law Attorney at Children First Family Law, PC, you will have the opportunity to represent individual parents/clients in Domestic Relations cases as well as serve in the role of Child Legal Representative (CLR), training for the latter with Krista Nash, a leader in the CLR role in Colorado and nationally as to how to most effectively use best-interests attorneys for children to help families flourish. Your responsibilities will include:

Case Management:

o Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and courts to ensure timely
progression of cases.
o Maintain and update case status reports and ensure all case-related

Legal Research and Document Drafting:
o Conduct thorough legal research and draft legal documents, including
but not limited to pleadings, motions, status reports, stipulations,

management certificates.

legal needs.
o Professionally handle interviews with all relevant people to a case –
including but not limited to other counsel, parents, children, therapists,
other collaterals.
o Conduct home visits with children and parents.
o Maintain client confidentiality.
o Provide empathetic support.

• Litigation:
o Handle cases all the way through litigation with little co-counsel support
• Team Collaboration:
o Work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal staff to support
case strategies.
