• Acute Care or Family Nurse Practitioner background
• Ability to pass required background screening

Responsibilities

• Provide primary medical care to adult inpatient populations.
• Perform medical evaluations and admissions assessments.
• Diagnose and treat routine illnesses and injuries.
• Order, review, and interpret laboratory tests and other diagnostics.
• Prescribe medications within established protocols.
• Conduct regular rounds and monitor medical progress.
• Document examinations, treatment plans and progress notes.
• Review outside consultations and ensure appropriate follow-up.
• Advise nursing staff regarding medical treatments and procedures.
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning.
• Provide urgent medical evaluation for acute concerns.
• Evaluate and triage staff injuries when needed.
• Participate in staff meetings, committees, and educational activities.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner with Full Practice Authority in Illinois to provide medical care for adult inpatient mental health patients. The provider will cover approximately 2–3 adult mental health units, including civil and minimal forensic populations.

The role is focused exclusively on medical care and management, not psychiatric treatment. The provider will work collaboratively with the psychiatric team, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to address patients' medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary medical care to adult inpatient populations as needed.
• Perform medical evaluations and physical examinations, including admission assessments.
• Diagnose and treat routine illnesses and injuries.
• Order, review, and interpret laboratory tests and other diagnostic procedures.
• Prescribe medications and therapies within established protocols.
• Conduct regular rounds and monitor patients' medical progress.
• Document examinations, findings, treatment plans, and progress notes.
• Review outside consultations and ensure appropriate follow-up.
• Advise nursing staff regarding medical treatments and procedures.
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning.
• Provide urgent medical evaluation when acute medical concerns arise.
• Evaluate and triage staff injuries when needed.
• Participate in staff meetings, committees, clinical conferences, and educational activities.
• Support evidence-based practices and applicable healthcare standards.
