Job Summary

Start Date: Monday, June 16th, 2025

Training Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm CST

The role of the Family Health Advocate is a remote position created to provide support to members and their families through personalized resource and referral facilitation, issue resolution, and healthcare navigation. Using motivational interviewing and guided approaches, the advocate will support members in achieving health goals, reducing costs, and optimizing care quality.

Essential Job Functions
  • Answer inquiries from members via voice and chat regarding eligibility, benefits, claims, ID issues, grievances, utilization management, and provider search.
  • Support for spending accounts, pharmacy, disability, incentives, rewards, and ordering DME.
  • Search community resources and manage member preferences.
  • Coordinate issue resolution with providers, payers, or third parties for claims, grievances, utilization, pharmacy, and spending accounts.
  • Provide proactive care guidance, including closing care gaps, benefits education, and preparing members for procedures.
  • Refer members to care management, clinical advocates, or third-party services as needed.
  • Understand and communicate benefit design packages, engage with members, and educate on healthcare inquiries.
Specific Skills/Attributes
  • Excellent multi-channel communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication in voice and chat, with strong typing, grammar, and spelling skills.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-year healthcare/health sciences degree or equivalent experience, or previous roles such as Health Guide, Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, etc.
  • Experience in healthcare customer service and resolution of high-level issues.
