Job Summary

Start Date: Monday, June 16th, 2025

Training Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm CST

Assigned shifts may vary between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm CST after training.

The Family Health Advocate role is a new, remote position dedicated to providing meaningful support to members and their families through personalized resource and referral facilitation, issue resolution, and healthcare navigation. Using motivational interviewing and guided approaches, the advocate will help members achieve health goals, reduce costs, and improve care quality.

Essential Job Functions

• Respond to inquiries from members via voice and chat regarding eligibility, benefits, open enrollment, claims, ID issues, grievances/appeals, utilization management, and more.
• Assist with provider searches, focusing on cost and quality, including medical, dental, and vision providers.
• Support spending accounts, pharmacy, disability, and member incentives/rewards.
• Help with ordering DME, community resources, and managing member preferences.
• Coordinate issue resolution with providers, payers, or third parties for claims, grievances, utilization, pharmacy, and spending inquiries.
• Provide proactive care guidance, such as closing care gaps, benefits education, preparing members for procedures, and referring to clinical advocates or third-party care management.
• Understand and communicate benefit design packages, ensuring appropriate engagement and education on healthcare inquiries.

Specific Skills/Attributes

• Excellent multi-channel communication and problem-solving skills.
• Effective in voice and chat communication, with strong typing, grammar, and spelling skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two-year healthcare/health sciences degree or equivalent experience, or relevant positions such as Health Guide, Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, etc.
• Experience in customer service within healthcare settings and resolving high-level or sensitive issues.
