Job summary

Great Hearts Academies is seeking a Family Giving Manager to lead a 12+ person team across multiple academies in Phoenix. You will drive annual fundraising initiatives, develop donor strategies, and ensure program excellence in collaboration with the Director of Family Partnership and campus leaders.

You will hire, coach, and evaluate FGOs, maintain performance dashboards, and ensure policy compliance across campaigns.

POSITION: Family Giving Manager

Salary Range: $62,000-$72,000 annually

Position Summary

The Family Giving Manager provides strategic leadership, coaching, and performance management for a team of 12 or more Family Giving & Community Engagement Officers (FGOs) across multiple Great Hearts academies. This position is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of annual fundraising initiatives, including Community Investment, Public School Tax Credit, athletic sponsorships, and other philanthropic campaigns.

The Family Giving Manager develops fundraising strategies, monitors performance metrics, removes barriers to success, and cultivates a culture of philanthropy that supports Great Hearts' mission. Working in partnership with the Director of Family Partnership, Headmasters, Major Gift team, and cross-functional leadership, this individual ensures fundraising excellence, policy compliance, and consistent execution across all assigned academies.

Leadership & Team Management
  • Directly supervise a team of 12+ Family Giving Officers.
  • Lead all aspects of hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and training new Family Giving Officers.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings focused on performance, coaching, professional growth, and accountability.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and provide timely feedback through ongoing coaching and annual evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative, mission-driven team culture built on shared best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Coach Family Giving Officers in building productive relationships with Headmasters, faculty, Athletic Directors, Parent Service Organizations, Advisory Boards, and volunteers.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex donor, volunteer, or academy relationship issues.
  • Arrange support and/or backfill for FGOs when there is a vacancy.
Fundraising Strategy & Execution
  • Ensure that all FGOs execute the predetermined development strategies to achieve budgeted annual goals for all annual campaigns.
  • Assists the Director of Family Partnership in the writing of the annual Strategic Development Plan.
  • Monitor individual and team fundraising dashboards, KPIs, and donor activity metrics.
  • Analyze fundraising trends and recommend strategic adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Track annual fundraising projections and proactively communicate risks and opportunities the Director of Family Partnership and Headmasters, as needed.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for Development leadership as requested.
Meetings & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Maintain a regular on-campus presence by traveling to assigned academies to provide FGO coaching and build relationships with school leadership teams.
  • Facilitates monthly in-person 1:1s with each FGO.
  • Serves as the lead in annual budgeting cycle alongside Finance and Headmasters to set Community Investment and Tax Credit goals.
  • Collaborate with the Network Director of Athletics to equip academy-level Athletic Directors with resources to solicit Public School Tax Credits and Athletic Sponsorships to support the athletics program.
  • Partner with Headmasters regarding annual campaign officer performance or support needs.
  • Collaborate with the major gifts team to coordinate donor communications and strategies.
Operational & Compliance Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with development policies and procedures to ensure support and prioritization of on-site fundraising activities.
  • Ensure consistent use of development systems, reporting tools, and CRM documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to the Donor Bill of Rights in all fundraising practices.
Qualifications, Competencies, And Strengths

Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree required.

Experience
  • Demonstrated success achieving fundraising, sales, or revenue goals.
  • Prior experience as a Development Officer in a private or charter academic setting preferred.
  • Minimum of two years leading, coaching, or supervising high-performing teams preferred.
  • Prior experience using Raiser's edge software or a similar CRM/donor database system preferred.

Additional Requirements
  • Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
  • Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
  • Travel required: Ability to travel throughout the Phoenix-metropolitan area on a weekly basis and ability to travel nationally up to 4 times per year.
