This part-time role requires strong communication, empathy, and the ability to learn new procedures quickly. Experience in healthcare is preferred, and the position is on-site at University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and follow-through skills.
• Professional attitude and strong customer service focus.
• Ability to listen actively and show empathy while interacting with patients, families and staff.
• Able to quickly learn new procedures and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to protect patient information.

Responsibilities

• Meets needs of patients, family members, and visitors with compassion.
• Communicates with primary care nurse and updates charge nurses as needed.
• Collaborates with organizational volunteers at the waiting room desk.
• Informs perioperative staff of special needs patients and families.
• Works with peers to improve processes.
• Ensures smooth handoff between liaisons and volunteers.
