Job summary

Medford Public Schools is expanding its Before/After School Programs across four elementary sites and seeks a Family Engagement Specialist to strengthen home-school connections. You will design family touchpoints, oversee safety, and manage arrival/dismissal with care and confidentiality, building trust with families from day one.

Responsibilities include welcoming families, ensuring safe movement, reporting highlights for newsletters, coordinating with school-day staff, and supporting site

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred, not required) in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Communications, or related field.
• Planned and delivered family-facing communication, intake, or administrative support in school, after-school, or community settings.
• Strong group and desk management with attendance and dismissal records.
• Relational problem-solving with culturally responsive communication and confidentiality.
• Excellent communicator with students, staff, families, and school partners across diverse backgrounds.
• CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain) and meet background check requirements.

Responsibilities

• Welcome every family on purpose and manage front desk intake and updates with warmth.
• Master student safety: attendance, dismissal records, and secure pickup routines.
• Tell the program's story: craft updates/newsletters from classroom highlights and staff/student voices.
• Bridge home and school: coordinate with staff and district partners for individualized plans.
• Co-lead site operations: keep front desk and systems organized and support daily operations.
