Job summary

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation in Brooklyn is looking for a dedicated individual to support children's developmental needs in a part-time role. The position requires a high school diploma and reliable transportation. You will engage with families and help maintain compliance with various agency policies.

Compensation ranges from $17.00 to $20.00 per hour based on experience, with opportunities for professional development and participation in retirement plans. The role follows an hourly schedule from 3:15 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

  • Clear DOE and DOHMH fingerprinting and background authorizations.
  • Daily reliable transportation to Brooklyn, NY.

Job description

What You'll Do
  • Ensure a learning environment that helps children develop physically, emotionally, socially, cognitively, and creatively.
  • Support the implementation of activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and creative development of children.
  • Maintain program compliance with oversight agencies, such as DOE and DOHMH, and overall CHLDC-UCC policies.
  • Share job-related knowledge with team members to promote and support their professional growth.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff and team meetings, classroom development workshops, and trainings conducted by funding/leading expert agencies as directed by the supervisor when permitted by schedule.
  • Engage in center-related services/activities such as end-of-year celebrations, special performances, family events, etc.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and families through open communication, training, and other developmental activities.
  • Adhere to Agency (UCDCC) policies and procedures; seek guidance/clarification from the Educational Director regarding interpretation, applicability, and implementation.
  • Strictly adhere to, and enforce, the Agency policy regarding confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Demonstrate commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the above.
Requirements
  • Availability to follow the schedule of 3:15 pm–6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • At least eighteen years old.
  • High‑school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Clear DOE and DOHMH fingerprinting and background authorizations.
  • Daily reliable transportation to Brooklyn, NY.
Nice to Haves
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish/Bengali) is a plus.
  • Experience with specific early‑childhood age groups as required by Article 47. Ability to work with children under three years old requires:
    • At least 21 years old.
    • Either an associate’s degree in ECE or a Child Development Associate credential with a study plan, or a high school diploma with nine college credits in ECE/child development, two years of experience caring for children, and a study plan.
Benefits
  • Hourly position: 12–14 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
  • Pay rate: $17.00–$20.00 per hour, based on education and experience level.
