Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Social Work or equivalent field.
  • Four- five years' experience working with children, youth and families in case management.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish required.
  • Ability to instruct and manage program services effectively.
  • A self-starter with strong organization and time management skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Family Advocate Case Manager reports and works with the Manager of Children, Youth, and Family Programs to lead individual and family programs including case management, budget/financial literacy, family stability, and partnership development. This position schedules the English as a Second Language teachers and childcare staff. They will also work with agency partners, volunteers and clients.Essential Functions:Support the development of curriculum and activities for programs including managing outside partnerships. Establish referral relationships with other social service agencies and attend community coalition meetings.Manage and expand parent engagement activities including the parent program committee, ESL classes, parent education series, and other parent and family support/engagementEnsure administrative function such as check requests, scheduling and program statistics are handled, and deadlines met by appropriate staffOversee database management for all children, youth and family programs alongside the Manager of Children, Youth and Family ProgramsCommunicate with team to organize and manage assigned projects/events. Coordinate and oversee on-site and off-site set-up and logistics for community events alongside the Bilingual Outreach Advocate.Establish collaborative relationships with school leadership/staff, community partners, and social service providers to ensure that the family's basic, social and psychological needs are met based on conducted assessments. Addressing underlying barriers to food security, beyond food access alone; including stability services (financial literacy education).Ensure all members of the department are connected to the overall mission and vision of the Stewpot and FPC Dallas, while following a trauma - informed approach in their work with clients.Work with the Manager of Children, Youth, and Family Program to ensure proper policies, procedures are developed, and client relations are maintained for the children, youth and families; additionally, evaluate programs and provide opportunities for client feedback.Assist the Development team to identify opportunities for development and funding and assist with grant and individual requests.Core Competencies:Interpersonal Skills: Relates well to all kind of people including peers, superiors and subordinates, inside and outside of the congregation; builds appropriate rapport; builds constructive and effective relationships; uses diplomacy and tact; is seen as approachableProject Management: Identifies key objectives and scope of a proposed project; garners needed resources and project support, develops a realistic and thorough plan for achieving key objectives, keeps team members briefed on progress, implements action plans, communicates progress to stakeholders, identifies and resolves barriers and problems.Supervising Work: is good establishing clear expectation and setting clear direction for employees and contracts; set stretching objectives; distributes the workload appropriately; provides regular and ongoing feedback about performance; proactively deals with substandard performance; engages disciplinary processes in a timely manner.Delegation: Clearly and comfortably delegates both routine and important tasks and decisions; appropriately shares authority and responsibility; creates accountability; sets clear objectives and measures, monitors process, progress and results; builds feedback loops into the work; trusts people to perform their own work.Decision making and problem solving: uses sound logic to approach difficult problems and apply effective solutions; can distinguish between symptoms, causes and implied solutions; decides in a timely manner based upon a blend of research, experience and risk - taking and judgment.Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Social Work or equivalent fieldFour- five years' experience working with children, youth and families in case management capacityBilingual Skills in English and Spanish requiredAbility to instruct and manage program services effectivelyA self-starter with strong organization and time management skills
