Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 seeks an Activity Sponsor for the Fall Play at Proviso Math & Science Academy. The sponsor will organize, supervise, and promote a student club/production, serving as mentor and liaison to ensure a safe, inclusive extracurricular experience.

Responsibilities include supervising activities, coordinating with staff, ensuring compliance with policies, maintaining communications with students and families, and preparing students for participation.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students in a school setting.
• Willingness to take responsibility for all duties associated with the position.
• Valid Illinois PEL or Substitute Teaching License or related certification.
• Previous sponsorship or supervisory experience with school-based activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision for all club activities, ensuring student safety and compliance with policies.
• Approve off-campus activities per district procedures and manage permission slips and transportation.
• Comply with mandated reporting obligations under Illinois law.
• Prepare students for participation, define expectations and provide feedback.
• Guide students in planning inclusive, developmentally appropriate activities.
• Coordinate logistics and facility usage with school personnel and departments.
• Use feedback and participation data to inform program decisions and improve impact.
• Enforce academic eligibility per IHSA and district policy.
• Maintain timely communication with students, staff, families, and other stakeholders.
• Promote student involvement and leadership opportunities.
• Support balance between academics and extracurricular involvement.
