Job summary

City of Kankakee is seeking a Laborer/Helper – Leaf Crew for the fall and winter seasons. This temporary assignment lasts about 9 to 10 weeks and may be extended based on departmental needs. The role involves extensive raking, snow shoveling, lifting and other physical tasks.

All applicants will undergo a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen and background check. This entry-level position reports to the Operations Manager within the Public Works (DPW) department.

Qualifications

• All applicants must be a minimum 17 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rake leaves and debris in assigned areas.
• Shovel snow during winter conditions and perform related maintenance.
• Lift and move materials as required, engaging in physical, outdoor labor.
• Assist the Public Works Leaf Crew under supervision of the Operations Manager.

The Environmental Services Utility – Department of Public Works division, is seeking help for the fall and winter seasons. This is a 9 to 10-week temporary assignment. This assignment may be extended based on departmental needs. This position involves extensive raking, shoveling snow, lifting and other physical tasks as assigned.

The City of Kankakee is a drug free work place. Prospective employees are required to undergo a pre-employment physical including the successful completion of a drug screen, and criminal background check.
