Job summary

Hopkins Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Fall Dance Coach to support the Fall Dance program at Hopkins High School. You will work with the Head Coach to provide a positive, competitive, and developmentally appropriate experience for student-athletes while upholding school and athletics values.

The role focuses on planning practices, teaching dance technique and routines, promoting safety and teamwork, and fostering growth in a collaborative, inclusive environment

Qualifications

• Previous dance, coaching, teaching, or competitive dance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of dance technique, choreography, conditioning, and performance preparation.
• Ability to effectively communicate and work with high school student-athletes.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive experience for all participants.
• Must meet all Hopkins Public Schools and MSHSL coaching requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach with planning, organizing, and conducting practices, performances, competitions, and team activities.
• Provide instruction in dance technique, choreography, conditioning, and performance skills.
• Assist with developing and teaching routines appropriate for the skill level of student-athletes.
• Promote student-athlete safety, sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, and personal growth.
• Provide constructive feedback and individualized instruction to help dancers improve their skills and confidence.
• Assist with supervision of student-athletes during practices, competitions, performances, travel, and other team activities.
• Support the Head Coach with team organization, communication, equipment, uniforms, and other program responsibilities.
• Maintain effective and professional communication with student-athletes, families, school staff, and the Athletics/Activities Department.
• Follow all Hopkins Public Schools, Lake Conference, and MSHSL policies, procedures, and expectations.
• Help maintain a positive team culture that is inclusive, respectful, and supportive of all student-athletes.
• Serve as a positive role model and representative of Hopkins High School.
• Perform other duties related to the Fall Dance program as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletics/Activities Department.
