Job summary

Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic, reliable instructors to join our after-school enrichment program in Aurora, CO. Lead fun chess sessions for elementary students using our curriculum and create a positive classroom environment.

We offer flexible hours (1–5 classes/week), competitive pay per class ($50–$65), and mileage reimbursement for travel between local schools. Candidates must have reliable transportation and a kid-friendly, professional demeanor.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar).
• Ability to lead a class independently and create interactive, friendly, and fun sessions.
• Professional, positive, and kid-friendly demeanor.
• Genuine desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals and ability to explain moves, basic strategy, and simple tactics.
• Ability to connect chess problem-solving to real-life problems.
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive between locations.
• Weekday afternoon availability (2:00 PM–5:00 PM) to teach 1–5 classes/week.
• Commitment to school safety protocols and policy adherence.
• Strong punctuality and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Teach chess fundamentals using our curriculum.
• Maintain a lively, positive classroom environment.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal, and activities.
• Travel to local school sites for each session.
• Arrive prepared and ready to engage students.
