Job summary

Chess Wizards in Mill Valley, CA is seeking enthusiastic instructors to join our after-school enrichment program and share the magic of chess with elementary students.

Lead fun, interactive 1.5-hour classes, 12pm–6pm, 1–5 per week, traveling to local schools. Competitive pay per class, mileage reimbursement, and full training.

You will create a positive classroom environment, promote good sportsmanship, and help students develop problem-solving and critical thinking through chess.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings.
• Ability to lead engaging, interactive sessions and maintain a positive classroom atmosphere.
• Strong time-management and reliability for a multi-site role.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Teach chess fundamentals and promote good sportsmanship using our curriculum.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking through chess.
• Follow school safety protocols and supervise students during arrivals and dismissals.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session and arrive prepared.
