Job summary

Poudre School District seeks a long-term substitute School Counselor at Wellington Middle-High School for Fall 2026. The 100% position covers a leave of absence and runs for the full 188 workdays of the semester, with benefits including PERA retirement and a daily rate of $250.

The counselor will support academic, career, college readiness and social/emotional development, deliver ASCA-aligned services, collaborate with families and staff, and respond to crises with professional referrals.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field required.
• Colorado Special Services license with School Counselor endorsement required.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Experience working with students in a school setting preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and deliver a data-driven, comprehensive school counseling program based on the ASCA Model.
• Provide individual and small group counseling for academic, career, and social/emotional development.
• Deliver classroom guidance lessons aligned with ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors for Student Success.
• Respond to student crises and refer to appropriate professionals or agencies.
• Support student transitions, including registration and grade-level changes.
• Assist students and families with educational and career planning.
• Collaborate with administrators, staff, families, and community partners to address student needs.
• Contribute to a positive school culture and climate and participate in meetings and activities.
• Attend work on time and perform other duties as assigned.
