Job summary

University of Massachusetts invites current students to join the Fall 2026 Intern position in University Internal Audit. This part-time, hybrid internship offers hands-on experience evaluating operations, compliance, and internal controls across campuses.

Under supervision of IA staff, you will conduct audits, research controls, and collaborate with colleagues in the President's Office and campuses. The role may provide academic credit in addition to a paid stipend.

Qualifications

• Current UMass student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (e.g., accounting, business administration, IT).
• GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Interest in higher education, internal audit, operations, compliance, and IT.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office and comfortable with new technology.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently and in a team, and think critically.
• Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Inquisitive with analytical skills and professional discretion.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, professional demeanor.
• Ability to travel to all five UMass campuses.

Responsibilities

• Provide general administrative support to the IA team.
• Assist in audit research and tests of internal controls and compliance.
• Interact with administrators, faculty, and staff.
• Organize workpapers for audits and reviews.
• Follow-up on management's action plans.
• Think critically and exercise professional skepticism, judgment, and discretion.
• Perform special assignments as needed.
