Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is offering a 2027 Summer Internship in our Atlanta office for current students. You will work side‑by‑side with industry‑leading experts to gain hands‑on experience applying classroom knowledge to real‑world challenges.

As an intern you will assist with construction monitoring, field investigations, and structural analysis while learning through supervised projects. Travel and working from heights may be required, with mentorship from licensed professionals.

Qualifications

• Students should have an interest in civil and/or structural engineering, materials science, architecture, and architectural engineering.
• Maintain high grades and demonstrate hands-on learning in a consulting environment.
• Strong communication abilities and enthusiasm for professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction monitoring, field investigations, condition assessments, and project drafting.
• Analyze materials, develop test protocols, and analyze data.
• Collaborate with SGH engineers on reconnaissance of existing structures and field tests.
• Organize field data and assist with research to facilitate analysis and repair design.
• Perform analysis under guidance using hand calculations and software.
• Assist with preparation of client deliverables, including documents and reports.
