Job summary

The ideal candidate will have culinary training or equivalent, leadership experience, Servesafe certification, and a flexible, outdoors-friendly approach. On-site housing and communal living are provided as part of a mission-driven faith community.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading a kitchen team and coordinating staff.
• Ability to train summer and weekend helpers in food service tasks.
• Willingness to work in a faith-based, camp environment.
• Strong knowledge of cooking terminology, ingredients, and equipment.
• Commitment to safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the kitchen in the absence of the Food Service Manager.
• Assigns kitchen duties to personnel and leads a team.
• Hands-on food preparation, serving and kitchen operations.
• Maintains sanitary kitchen and follows opening/closing procedures.
• Encourages garnishing and visual presentation of dishes.
• Monitors product usage, waste and prep numbers.
• Trains staff in all food service tasks and safety.
• Leads Summer staff during the summer and Joshua students on weekends.
• Reports maintenance needs and handles conflicts with supervision.
