Job summary

Utah Valley University’s School of Aviation Sciences invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions beginning January 2027 to educate the next generation of aviation professionals in a student-centered, teaching-focused environment at UVU’s Provo Campus.

The department offers bachelor's degrees in Professional Pilot and Aviation Management; faculty engage in teaching, curriculum development, scholarship, industry collaboration, and student mentorship.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Aviation or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• PhD in an Aviation-related field is preferred for higher education with online teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach undergraduate aviation courses in a student-centered learning environment.
• Engage in scholarly activities and/or creative works supporting teaching, curriculum, and industry collaboration.
• Participate in community outreach, industry partnerships, and curriculum development to align programs with workforce needs.
• Teach courses in a variety of formats, including day, evening, weekend, online, blended, and off-campus instruction.
• Contribute to UVU’s teaching excellence by creating engaging learning experiences for students.

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Aviation or a related field to the coursework being taught.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in an Aviation-related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Higher education experience with online teaching experience.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of the principles and methodology of adult teaching techniques.
• Knowledge of current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) policies, regulations, and procedures as related to best practices in industry.
• Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative data analysis and research methodology.
• Knowledge of subject matter and course content.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques in upper and lower division courses.
• Knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation of (peer and self) instruction.
• Knowledge of program and curriculum development and evaluation.
• Knowledge of and expertise in current trends in education, such as engaged learning and service learning, learning technologies (e.g., digital technologies for classroom management and distance education), public presenting, and report and grant writing.
