Faculty Professor Research Assistant - Full-Time

Position Overview

The University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenured Research Assistant Professor position in the Child Welfare Education and Research Programs. The position is available immediately, based on the Oakland campus in Pittsburgh, involving research and evaluation of programs across the state.

The school, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2018, is nationally ranked and renowned for child welfare education, workforce development, and community engagement. We seek candidates who will advance our research and evaluation efforts, support teaching, and address evolving child welfare policies in a stimulating environment.

Position Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Principal Investigator, faculty, and staff of the Child Welfare Education and Research Programs.
• Plan and execute statewide research and evaluation activities, including research design, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Maintain relationships with county agencies and the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.
• Mentor students and oversee research activities.
• Participate in ongoing projects and collaborate with the PA Child Welfare Resource Center.
• Travel as required; opportunities for teaching and advising are available.

Minimum Qualifications

• MSW degree and Doctorate in Social Work or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• At least five years of experience in applied research and program evaluation.
• Experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse populations.
• Experience in community-based participatory research and project management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Mentoring experience with students.
• University-level teaching experience.
• Research focus in child welfare.
