Job description

Clinician Scientist - Anesthesiology

The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota Medical School, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Pain Consortium, seeks an accomplished clinician‑scientist working in the field of acute or chronic pain science to join a large, multidisciplinary community of researchers focused on pain and analgesia research. Academic rank and appointment type will be commensurate with years of experience and accomplishments.

About the Job

The position provides opportunities for collaboration with investigators in the University of Minnesota Health Sciences, including the schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Public Health. Candidates will mentor and teach PhD, MD/PhD, and medical students. The University of Minnesota is known internationally for pain research and the development of novel analgesic medications.

  • The ideal candidate should be experienced in using state‑of‑the‑art approaches that complement and expand the clinical and/or basic science research already being performed in multiple specialties.
  • Substantial start‑up funds and laboratory space are available.
  • This position will include clinical duties working in/at University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
  • 1.0 FTE
Qualifications
  • Must hold an MD, MD/PhD, or DO degree.
  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME residency and/or fellowship training program.
  • Board eligible/certified.
  • Licensed or able to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota.
  • Meets threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
  • Ability to receive work authorization in the United States and maintain legal status per VISA category.
  • Demonstrates a strong record of research productivity.
  • Provides evidence of an established, independent research program with a track‑record of external NIH‑level funding.
  • Current, movable funding is strongly preferred.
Benefits and Compensation

Pay Range: Salary at the University of Minnesota depends upon academic effort of the person hired, beginning at $55,000; clinical salary is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians. Total salary is competitive with market and based on AAMC salary benchmarks.

Time Appointment: 75%–100% appointment
