## **Department:**SOM KC Ophthalmology-----Ophthalmology Faculty## **Position Title:**Faculty Optometrist - Ophthalmology## **Job Family Group:**Academic## **Job Description Summary:**The Faculty Optometrist in the Department of Ophthalmology provides clinical, teaching and research duties, as their experience and interest allows. This position also supervises medical students and residents in clinics as well as participates in the didactic teaching program. Faculty interested in research may be afforded protected time to complete clinical and bench research, but will be encouraged to participate in clinical research and scientific presentations at national/regional meetings in addition to their clinical and teaching duties.## **Job Description:****Key Roles and Responsibilities:*** Provide services as an Optometrist, comprising of comprehensive clinics for all ages.* Participate in the didactic teaching program including supervising medical students and residents.* Participate in JayDoc clinics.* Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with patients as monitored by the hospital's patient experience survey.* Serve on departmental committees and provide other service to the School of Medicine and the University as needed.* Participate in clinical research and scientific presentations at national/regional meetings as appropriate with academic track.* Provide clinical and surgical services to the VA and/or other sites under Professional Services Agreement with The University of Kansas Health System.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
