Job summary

Job description

Faculty | Nursing Teaching Assistant/Adjunct

A Nursing Teaching Assistant/Adjunct Clinical Faculty position at the University of Mary. The role facilitates student‑centered learning and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the university.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities
  • Communicate nursing practice objectives with students and identify learning opportunities.
  • Assign clients and supervise students in the nursing practice area.
  • Assess student preparation to ensure safe nursing practice, identify individual learning needs, and facilitate laboratory experience as appropriate.
  • Assist students to integrate theoretical concepts into nursing practice.
  • Evaluate student nursing practice written work and skill competencies using established evaluation tools; provide written feedback and conduct evaluation conferences.
  • Foster interpersonal relationships with the assigned unit, orient students to the nursing practice site, and evaluate site effectiveness.
  • Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and student self‑direction.
  • Model baccalaureate professional nursing roles such as delegation, clinical decision‑making, therapeutic communication, leadership, collaboration, and professionalism.
  • Implement, evaluate, and provide updates to the nursing practice tool.
  • Coordinate with mentor or course coordinator, attend scheduled course meetings, and reschedule mandatory nursing practice hours when necessary.
Lab Supervision
  • Communicate course and lab objectives; assess student preparation and provide feedback.
  • Facilitate laboratory experience.
  • Evaluate student written work and skill competencies.
  • Model professional nursing roles.
  • Notify lab coordinator of any student concerns.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with lab coordinator and attend scheduled course meetings.
Education Qualifications
  • Actively engaged in graduate nursing studies to complete the degree within 4 years.
  • Current unencumbered license in the state of North Dakota.
  • Meet criteria set forth by the NDBON faculty development program.
