Job summary

Daytona State College invites applications for a nursing faculty position to teach clinical and/or didactic content in a Florida setting. The role requires leadership potential and active licensure to practice nursing in Florida.

Travel across Volusia/Flagler County for classroom and clinical placements is expected, with day or evening class times. This is a nine-month appointment with a competitive salary based on experience.

Qualifications

• Must be able to teach clinical and/or didactic content in nursing and possess leadership potential.
• Have a clear/active license to practice nursing in Florida.
• Possess effective communication skills and be proficient with use of computers and Office 365.
• Willing to travel throughout Volusia/Flagler County for classroom and/or clinical placement.

Responsibilities

• Teaches assigned courses.
• Assists in curriculum development, course reports, and textbook selection.
• Uses instructional technology methods when presenting course content.
• Communicates effectively and efficiently with students.
• Provides written course syllabus including policies, procedures, grading, and learning outcomes.
• Uses up-to-date course materials including learning objectives, texts, and supplementary materials.
• Applies classroom management strategies in face to face, hybrid, and/or online formats.
• Implements student assessment policies such as testing or observation of skills.
• Submits grades or other course assessment reports in a timely manner.
• Manages routine classroom responsibilities professionally.

Job description

• Master’s degree in nursing, from an accredited institution.
• Must be able to teach clinical and/or didactic content in nursing and possess leadership potential.
• Have a clear/active license to practice nursing in Florida, possess effective communication skills, be proficient with use of computers, use of Office 365, and virtual communication software.
• Must be willing to travel throughout Volusia/Flagler County for classroom and/or clinical placement. Class/lab/clinical instruction may be days or evenings.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior classroom teaching and simulation facilitation experience is preferred. A terminal degree is preferred.

Rank:

Appointment level to any faculty position is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Salary:

Nine-month position. Competitive salary depending on experience.

Tenure and promotion are awarded based on a review by a college-wide committee of the candidate’s contributions to service, pedagogy and scholarship.
