Job description

Position Summary

Faculty members are responsible for the delivery of quality education services. This entails engaging students, fostering learning, role‑modeling professionalism, and ultimately producing competently trained students prepared for professional careers. They work with the Associate Director of Nursing, the Director of Nursing, and other campus faculty and staff to ensure consistent and high‑quality delivery of assigned courses.



Responsibilities


  • Full‑Time Faculty must become ATI Champions within 90 days of hire date.

  • Prepare course plans and materials.

  • Deliver course lectures, facilitate labs, and/or conduct clinical rotations.

  • Monitor equipment and supply needs and maintain the classroom.

  • Seek an approved substitute when absent.

  • Enforce HCI policies (attendance, dress code, clinical policies, etc.).

  • Participate in orientation, graduation, and pinning ceremonies.

  • Work on retention plans and program development.

  • Attend staff and faculty meetings.

  • Participate in committees and knowledge‑sharing forums.

  • Direct and assess student progress in theory and performance outcomes.

  • Monitor student progress and follow up as needed.

  • Provide weekly feedback reports to ADON, DON, SVPAA, and COO.

  • Maintain all relevant licenses, certifications, and paperwork for personnel file.

  • Maintain a minimum of eight (8) CEUs annually through professional development activities.

  • Encourage students to submit course evaluations, review feedback, and improve delivery.

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

  • Participate in ACEN and other accreditation activities.

  • Comply with all governmental regulations and accreditation standards.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.



Requirements


Skills and Qualifications


  • Minimum of the degree required for the discipline and experience/credentials in the relevant field per Florida Board of Nursing, ACEN, ACCSC, and other governing bodies. 50 % or more of faculty must hold a master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills.

  • Excellent teaching skills and ability to manage students’ clinical and skills‑lab activities efficiently.

  • Computer literacy and functional knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).

  • Ability to manage people and projects.

  • In‑depth knowledge of the course content.

  • Effective in directing and evaluating student learning and lab performance.

  • Prepared in educational theory and techniques.

  • A willingness to follow high ethical standards.



Education / Experience


  • Minimum: earned Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN or equivalent) from an accredited program (Required).

  • Preferred: Master’s degree in nursing (MSN or equivalent) from an accredited program.

  • Current, active, and unencumbered RN and/or APRN license issued by the Florida Department of Health (Required).

  • Current and active Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association (Required).

  • Minimum of four (4) years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught (per ACCSC).



Workload Expectations


  • Workload depends on faculty classification.

  • Faculty will start and end on time for assigned courses, clinicals, and lab hours.

  • Overtime requires prior approval from ADON/DON.

  • Teaching is in face‑to‑face contact with students in didactic instruction, clinical experiences, laboratory/simulation, and active learning.

  • Full‑time faculty must: teach a minimum of 30 hours per week, attend meetings, participate in accreditation, serve on committees, and perform other duties as assigned.



Physical Demands

The physical demands are those required in a professional office setting and higher education teaching environment, including communicating with coworkers, presenting to a classroom, demonstrating procedures, and traveling between classes. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.



Working Environment

Onsite—West Palm Beach (Main Campus) or Fort Lauderdale (branch).
