Qualifications

• Doctoral-level degree in a relevant laboratory science with required coursework or an approved thesis.
• Board certification by a HHS-approved body and ongoing certification.
• Minimum two years of laboratory training or supervision of high-complexity testing; CE credits.
• Foundational knowledge across regulatory standards, QA/QC, and clinical laboratory operations.

The Director will assume responsibility for and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and institutional standards. As a member of the clinical faculty, the director participates in education and supports the ongoing research and academic mission of the University of Kansas Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Director is expected to work in a highly collaborative manner with all clinical, educational and research partners.Job Description:Job DutiesProvide overall operational, administrative, technical, and scientific leadership for the ART laboratory and advise Division leadership regarding qualified laboratory personnel.Establish, implement, and oversee laboratory policies, protocols, standards, and procedures in collaboration with the Medical Director and applicable leadership.Oversee daily laboratory operations and perform laboratory procedures and testing as needed to support patient care and operational needs.Ensure laboratory testing and treatment methods are scientifically valid, clinically relevant, and appropriate to patient and program needs.Develop and oversee the laboratory’s quality management and quality assurance programs, including quality control, proficiency testing, quality improvement, corrective actions, and annual program review.Monitor laboratory performance and ensure accurate, timely, and medically reliable results, documentation, and communication of laboratory data.Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and institutional requirements, including timely reporting of federally mandated ART data to SART and CDC.Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate laboratory personnel; ensure staff maintain required competency, licensure, certification, and continuing education.
