Essential Job Functions

  • Delivers course content, learning activities and assessments using the university’s online learning platform, according to JWU course outlines and online course delivery standards
  • Measures student achievement of course objectives
  • Maintains accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement and performance in accordance with university policies and procedures
  • Posts a syllabus that uses the university-approved syllabus template
  • Responds to requests for information and/or action from students and university administrators in a timely fashion (24 hours or less)
  • Communicates early with any student in danger of failure or in need of individual counseling
  • Refers students to appropriate university resources for information, guidance, financial assistance, career development, etc
  • Collaborates with instructional support team for online teaching orientation and course delivery preparation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in psychology or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in psychology from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, or other appropriate accreditation as determined by Johnson & Wales University
  • Online teaching experience
  • Experience with Blackboard LMS
  • Successful candidates must be committed to working effectively with diverse student populations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned doctoral degree in psychology or a related field of study

Compensation: $4,100 - $4,700/course dependent on course and degree of candidate

Benefits: This part-time position offers an employee assistance program benefit. Adjunct faculty may become eligible for paid sick time as required by law. The university reserves the right to modify, amend or terminate any benefit or benefit programs as they apply to any participants, including but not limited to current and former employees. This is a remote position limited to residents of the following states: Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.
