Essential Job Functions

  • Delivers course content, learning activities and assessments using the university’s online learning platform, according to JWU course outlines and online course delivery standards
  • Measures student achievement of course objectives
  • Maintains accurate records of student attendance, academic achievement and performance in accordance with university policies and procedures
  • Posts a syllabus that uses the university-approved syllabus template
  • Responds to requests for information and/or action from students and university administrators in a timely fashion (24 hours or less)
  • Communicates early with any student in danger of failure or in need of individual counseling
  • Refers students to appropriate university resources for information, guidance, financial assistance, career development, etc.
  • Collaborates with instructional support team for online teaching orientation and course delivery preparation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in humanities, literature, philosophy, art history or social sciences, or 18 graduate credits in applicable content area plus a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution,or other appropriate accreditation as determined by Johnson & Wales University
  • Online teaching experience
  • Experience with Blackboard LMS
  • Successful candidates must be committed to working effectively with diverse student populations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned doctoral degree in humanities, literature, philosophy, art history, social sciences or a related field of study

Compensation: $4,100 - $4,700/course dependent on course and degree of candidate

Benefits: This part-time position offers an employee assistance program benefit. Adjunct faculty may become eligible for paid sick time as required by law. This is a remote position limited to residents of the following states: Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.
