Location: Miami Campus (On-Campus)

MAIN FUNCTION

The Faculty Member is responsible for providing graduate-level instruction, academic mentorship, and professional guidance to students enrolled in the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology Program while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, and student-centered education.

This position plays a vital role in preparing future speech-language pathologists by fostering academic excellence, clinical competence, professional judgment, ethical practice, and adherence to program, university, accreditation, and professional standards.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD) in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience following completion of the Clinical Fellowship (CF).
  • Previous experience teaching, supervising graduate student clinicians, mentoring Clinical Fellows, or providing comparable academic and clinical instruction.
  • Demonstrated instructional, mentoring, and communication skills with a commitment to graduate education and student success.
  • Knowledge and experience applying evidence-based practice principles in speech-language pathology.
  • Experience developing and delivering academic instruction in speech-language pathology content areas is preferred.
  • Experience with curriculum development, student assessment, and academic program activities is preferred.
  • Experience working with pediatric and adult populations across a variety of clinical settings is preferred.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and preparing culturally responsive speech-language pathology professionals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach graduate-level courses within the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology Program in accordance with curriculum requirements and university standards.
  • Develop and deliver lectures, learning activities, assessments, and instructional materials that support student learning outcomes.
  • Mentor and advise graduate students in academic, professional, and clinical development.
  • Integrate current research, evidence-based practice, and professional standards into classroom and clinical instruction.
  • Supervise and support graduate student clinicians during clinical education experiences, as assigned.
  • Provide guidance in the development of clinical reasoning, assessment, intervention planning, documentation, and professional communication skills.
  • Evaluate student academic and clinical performance in accordance with program policies, accreditation standards, and professional expectations.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to promote student growth and competency development.
  • Participate in curriculum review, program assessment, accreditation activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain current knowledge of developments, research, and best practices in speech-language pathology and higher education.
  • Collaborate with program faculty and clinical education personnel, to support student success.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, training sessions, committees, recruitment activities, and other program activities as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, ASHA standards, accreditation requirements, state licensure regulations, and applicable legal and ethical guidelines.
