Assistant Professor in Speech-Language Pathology

Job Summary

The College of Allied Health Sciences at Augusta University is seeking an Assistant Professor in the Master of Health Science in Speech‑Language Pathology graduate program. The faculty position requires a willingness and commitment to engage with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development. Responsibilities include teaching, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and vision of the SLP department and program. Additional duties involve coordinating communication with prospective students during the application and admissions process.

Responsibilities
Teaching — 80%

Advise students on university, college, and program policies. Prepare teaching assignments. Assist in interviewing and recruiting prospective faculty. Participate in securing program accreditation. Assist with all student recruitment, admissions, and enrollment activities.

Scholarship — 10%

Participate in scholarship activities including research, presentations, and publications.

Service — 10%

Participate in service to the institution, college, and department by serving on committees at all levels.

Required Qualifications

• Masters degree in Speech‑Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders.
• Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent) in Speech‑Language Pathology or a closely related field. Consideration may be given to candidates who are ABD with an anticipated completion date prior to the start of employment.
• Licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist (any state).
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP).
• Assistant Professor — early‑level career as a faculty member 0‑4 years’ experience in related field.

  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for institutional accreditation.
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher.
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
  • Successful experience (waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements).
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications

At least 7 years experience as a practicing speech‑language pathologist and 5 years experience in teaching.

Shift / Salary / Benefits

The position is fiscal year based and works year‑round. The intended full‑time equivalent (FTE) is 1.0. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, subject to availability of funds. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, generous retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more. Full‑time employees employed for more than 6 months may be considered for the Tuition Assistance Program.
