Job Summary

The College of Allied Health Sciences at Augusta University seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor in the Master of Health Science in Speech‑Language Pathology (SLP) graduate program. The position requires commitment to best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development. Job responsibilities will include teaching, service, and scholarship consistent with the mission of the SLP department and program. Additional duties include coordinating and communicating with prospective students throughout the application and admissions process. This is a non‑tenure track position.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching - 80% Student instruction in the Master of Health Sciences in Speech‑Language Pathology Graduate program.
  • Scholarship - 10% Participate in scholarship activities, including research, presentations, and publications.
  • Service - 10% Participate in service to the institution, college and department by serving on committees at all levels.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent) in Speech-Language Pathology or a closely related field; consideration may be given to ABD candidates with an anticipated completion date prior to employment.
  • Evidence of academic preparation and clinical expertise in speech-language pathology with the ability to teach at the graduate level.
  • Current certification in Speech‑Language Pathology from the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association (CCC‑SLP).
  • Eligibility for licensure as a Speech‑Language Pathologist in the state of Georgia (or current Georgia licensure).
  • Assistant Professor: early‑level career, 0–4 years of related experience.
  • Associate Professor: mid‑level, at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training and experience.
  • Consistent with SACSCOC requirements for institutional accreditation.
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher.
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience in a CAA‑accredited graduate program.
  • Experience with clinical supervision of graduate students.
  • Record of scholarly activity or strong potential for research productivity.
  • Expertise in specialty areas such as dysphagia, voice disorders, neurogenic communication disorders, pediatric language disorders.
  • Experience with interprofessional education and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards and program assessment processes.
  • Strong communication, mentorship, and leadership skills.
  • At least 7 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist and 7 years of teaching.
Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment is 1.0 FTE, considered full‑time. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, subject to availability of funds. Full‑time employees with more than 6 months of service may be considered for a Tuition Assistance Program.
