Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking an engineer to support the commissioning, operation, testing and maintenance of FACTS and HVDC facilities on the transmission grid. You will work with STATCOMs, SVCs, SCs, synchronous condensers, ESS, RPCs and related systems, performing testing, calibration, and coordination with dispatch and vendors.

The role requires a ABET‑accredited engineering degree, 2+ years of related experience, and the Physical Abilities Test (PAT).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering ABET-accredited program.
• 2+ years of related engineering technology experience.
• Must successfully complete the Physical Abilities Test (PAT).

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning, operation, testing, and maintenance of FACTS and HVDC facilities.
• Lead on-site activities for installation and commissioning of new FACTS equipment.
• Assist in fault diagnosis and corrective action to improve reliability of FACTS devices.
• Read electrical schematics and vendor documents to support operation of FACTS devices.
• Coordinate annual FACTS maintenance work plan and field support.
