Job summary

American Electric Power in Texas is seeking an engineer to support commissioning, operation, testing and maintenance of FACTS and HVDC facilities across the transmission grid.

You will lead on-site activities for installation, assist with fault diagnosis, and read schematics and vendor documents to support reliable FACTS equipment.

Candidates should have ABET-accredited engineering degree (or engineering technology), 2+ years of related experience, and pass the Physical Abilities Test (PAT).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering ABET-accredited program.
• Or a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology ABET-accredited program.
• Must complete the Physical Abilities Test (PAT).

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning, operation, testing and maintenance of FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) and HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) facilities.
• Lead on-site activities for the installation and commissioning of new FACTS equipment.
• Assist in the diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair of FACTS devices and relays.
• Read electrical schematics and vendor documents to support ongoing operation of FACTS devices.
• Coordinate and schedule the annual FACTS maintenance work plan and provide on-site support for maintenance and repair.
• Coordinate procurement of replacement parts and manage warranty issues with vendors.
