Job summary

United Launch Alliance in Decatur, Alabama, is seeking a Level 2 Systems Engineer to join a mission-focused team in the Recurring Chief Engineer's Office. The role drives rigorous systems engineering across Vulcan and Atlas launch vehicle programs, with embedded scope in Decatur and coordination with Denver colleagues.

You will develop and verify requirements, perform risk analyses, conduct trade studies, and support all lifecycle phases from concept to operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university.
• Knowledge of Systems Engineering and Integration principles.
• Proven experience using those principles successfully with cross-functional teams.
• Experience developing, integrating, and verifying requirements.
• Self-motivated with demonstrated initiative and teamwork skills on previous technical projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including in a presentation setting.
• Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Embedded Decatur factory scope systems engineering support while operating as part of the larger systems engineering team more heavily centered in Denver.
• Performs integration ensuring that subsystems function together as an integrated system by managing mechanical, propulsion, avionics, software, and analysis interfaces.
• Supports all systems engineering activities including requirements development and verification, failure mode analysis, test-like-you fly, risk/issue/opportunity management, trade studies, and gate reviews.
• Supports all phases of total system product: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, certification, operation, reuse, maintenance, and disposal.
• Responsible for applying appropriate scaling of systems engineering activities commensurate with the specific project needs.
