Job summary

General Motors Company in Detroit/Hamtramck is seeking a ME & Facilities - Business Planner for our Factory Zero. This onsite role supports the Functional Leader, coordinates the business planning process, and oversees ILM and Additive Manufacturing activities to align with production goals.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in business planning, with strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, quality standards, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• 2+ years in a Business Planning capacity or relevant experience.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing controls, lean principles, and quality standards.
• Strong communication with team leaders and management.
• Ability to rotate through 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts; overtime as needed.
• Proven ability to drive team outcomes and influence cross-functional groups.
• Experience mentoring and coaching teams to high performance.
• Data-driven approach to analyze production metrics.
• Understanding of GM internal standards, union agreements, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the Functional Leader in organizing the business, staff meetings, and special assignments.
• Support portfolio and business planning processes and SOT schedules.
• Coordinate ILM activities for the plant and manage information lifecycle.
• Oversee Additive Manufacturing operations alignment with business needs.
• Monitor assignments, priorities, and deliverables for complex projects.
• Maintain project lists, business cases, deliverables, benefits and timing.
• Support the functional competitive assessment process.
• Analyze key operating metrics and provide on-demand technical support as needed.
