Job summary

Divergent is hiring a Mechanical Engineer II to design and develop automation components for adaptive production systems. You will own projects from concept through release, balancing cost, performance, and manufacturability.

You will work with mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and manufacturing teams to translate requirements into practical, robust designs and prototypes for deployment on the factory floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing and developing mechanical components from concept to release.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD, drawings, GD&T and BOMs.
• Foundational mechanical engineering knowledge for a range of problems.
• Hands-on experience prototyping, testing, and iterative design.
• Collaborates across mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and operations.
• Lift up to 25 lb and work around industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design of automation components from concept to deployment.
• Translate requirements into mechanical interfaces and acceptance criteria.
• Balance cost, schedule, manufacturability, reliability, and performance.
• Develop designs using CAD, drawings, GD&T and BOMs.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure system integrity.
• Support integration, testing, troubleshooting and design iteration.
• Contribute to architecture and standardization of automation systems.
