Job summary

The YMCA in Greenwich, CT is seeking a Facility Technician to support painting and general maintenance. You will perform daily inspections, document work orders, and help keep pools, mechanical rooms, and public spaces safe and welcoming.

This role requires hands-on skills in painting, drywall, basic carpentry, and equipment operation. You will coordinate with staff and contractors, follow safety procedures, and assist with after-hours tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Two+ years in professional painting, facility maintenance, or related trade.
  • Able to repair drywall, patching, caulking, sanding, priming, staining, and finish work.
  • Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams, managing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and document daily facility inspections.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records and reports.
  • Communicate with Facilities Director about conditions and repairs.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, staff, and members.
  • Follow health, safety, environmental and building requirements.
  • Support pool operations and water-quality management when qualified.
  • Assist with emergency response and after-hours issues as needed.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Director of Facilities.

We are a place where you can belong and become. **We are genuine:** we value you and embrace your individuality. **We are hopeful:** we believe in you and your potential to become a catalyst in the world. **We are nurturing:** we support you in your journey to develop your full potential. **We are determined:** above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.* Conduct and document daily facility inspections.* Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, inspection reports, and project updates.* Communicate clearly with the Director of Facilities regarding building conditions, completed work, outstanding repairs, and potential concerns.* Identify developing problems before they become larger or more expensive repairs.* Coordinate professionally with contractors, vendors, service providers, YMCA staff, and members.* Follow all applicable health, safety, environmental, and building requirements.* Support pool operations and water-quality management when qualified and assigned.* Participate in emergency response procedures and facility incident response.* Be available for occasional after-hours, weekend, or emergency facility issues as needed.* Perform additional duties and projects assigned by the Director of Facilities.* At least two years of experience in professional painting, facility maintenance, construction, building operations, or a related trade.* Strong hands-on experience with interior and exterior painting.* Demonstrated ability to perform drywall repair, patching, caulking, sanding, priming, staining, and finish work.* Ability to produce clean, professional, and visually consistent results.* General working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building maintenance.* Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to use common sense when diagnosing and resolving problems.* Ability to recognize when a repair can be completed internally and when a licensed contractor or specialist is required.* Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and complete assignments without constant supervision.* Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and maintenance equipment.* Knowledge of proper tool use, workplace safety practices, and job-site protection.* Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.* Dependable, adaptable, and willing to assist wherever needed.* Strong communication, teamwork, and customer-service skills.* Basic computer proficiency, including email, electronic work orders, and Microsoft Office applications.* Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification. Candidates with an active CPO certification will receive strong consideration.* Additional professional painting, drywall, carpentry, or building-trade experience.* Experience working in a recreational, educational, hospitality, healthcare, institutional, or commercial facility.* Experience using a computerized maintenance management system or electronic work-order platform.* High school diploma or GED.* Valid driver's license.* Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.* Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and work in confined spaces.* Ability to safely climb ladders and work from elevated surfaces.* Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.* Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.* Ability to work around pools, mechanical rooms, construction areas, chemicals, noise, dust, and active public spaces.* Ability to use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all safety procedures.### Education and Training (if a question does not apply to you please enter N/A)List duties and special training you completed is required.Additional qualifications, special training/education, computer or office equipment skills and/or individual capabilities you have which will prepare you for the position you have applied for is required.## Explore Company Location
