Job summary

YMCA of Greenwich is seeking a part-time Youth Program Instructor to deliver a fun, safe sports experience for ages 3–17 at 50 E Putnam Ave, Greenwich.

Responsibilities include supervising participants, teaching fundamentals, creating age-appropriate lesson plans, coordinating with volunteers, and communicating progress to parents. A minimum of one year coaching children/teens and current First Aid/CPR is required; weekend hours are expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year experience teaching children/teens sports in a structured setting.
  • Content expert in designated sports activity.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure health, safety and well-being of children in the program with close supervision.
  • Provide a fun, safe and inclusive experience for all participants.
  • Provide supervision of participants in line with YMCA program standards (ratio, attendance).
  • Work with supervisor to develop program objectives and goals for each session.
  • Teach rules, fundamentals and emphasize teamwork and sportsmanship.
  • Create and modify lesson plans that are age-appropriate, progressive and meet participant needs.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians about progress and registration for sessions.
  • Provide direction to volunteers or Sports Assistants who support the program.
  • Familiarize self with branch emergency procedures and respond appropriately in emergencies.
  • Accept additional responsibilities as assigned to support YMCA operations.

Emphasize teamwork and sportsmanship.* Teach progressive lessons and provide opportunities to demonstrate learned skills.* Create and modify lesson plans and instruction that is age appropriate, progressive and meets the needs of the participants. Understand skills for ages 3 - 17, while utilizing differentiated instructions.* Create an atmosphere in which all participants can have fun, are safe and learn the importance of good principled athletics.* Ensure that all equipment is age-appropriate, safe and in proper working condition. This includes conducting monthly equipment safety checks.* Communicate with parents/guardians regarding the progress of their child/teen and registration for the next session.* Communicate to parents/guardians about additional YMCA opportunities that can benefit them or their child/teen.* Provide direction to volunteers or Sports Assistants who are supporting the program, when needed.* Have a thorough knowledge of branch emergency procedures and take appropriate actions for emergency situations.* In order to enhance the overall operation of the YMCA of Greenwich and to support teamwork, I will accept additional responsibilities as assigned.* Minimum one (1) year experience teaching children/teens sports in a structured setting.* Content expert in designated sports activity.* Ability to communicate effectively with members of all ages.* Coaching certificate or equivalent desired.* Current First Aid / CPR certifications.* Excellent customer service skills.* Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays### Education and Training (if a question does not apply to you please enter N/A)List duties and special training you completed is required.Additional qualifications, special training/education, computer or office equipment skills and/or individual capabilities you have which will prepare you for the position you have applied for is required.## Explore Company Location
